Tuesday's early weather begins with a dense fog advisory for the South Florida region, primarily for the inland areas.? Because of limited visibility in some places, the National Weather Service in Miami has issued the advisory until 9 a.m.

Motorists encountering fog should use low-beam headlights and allow plenty of distance between vehicles.

Otherwise, it's mid-December, when South Florida usually sees a few days of fairly cold weather. But no arctic blasts are in sight just yet.

The reason: A persistent area of high-pressure over the Southeast has been blocking cold fronts from making it this far, said meteorologist Chuck Caracozza of the National Weather Service in Miami.

"And if they do come this far, they don't pass all the way through; they just fall apart," he said.

As for today, expect a mix of sun and clouds with afternoon temperatures in the low 80s and a 10 percent chance of rain. Low readings this evening should be in the upper 60s.

Wednesday should be slightly cooler and less humid, thanks to a weak cold front.

A stronger cold front is expected to move through South Florida on Thursday night, bringing cooler temperatures on Friday on Saturday, with highs in the mid 70s and lows in the upper 50s. It also should be breezy on Friday and Saturday.
