SD is recruiting for an Agricultural Leadership Specialist (70% extension, 30% teaching), 9 month tenure track appointment with 2-month
supplementary salary on an annually renewable contract.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will provide leadership for
professional development training focusing on agricultural leadership, learning community development and adult learning concepts. The
incumbent will:
- Collaborate with field specialists and faculty to provide professional development training focusing on agricultural leadership, learning community development and adult learning concepts;
- Teach leadership class(es) for the Ag Education major;
- Conduct research projects that support agriculture leadership and publish results in appropriate scientific journals and other publicly available reports;
- Provide technical support for local Field Specialists in developing communication plans for program initiatives and delivery outreach.
An earned Ph.D. in Human Sciences, Leadership Studies or closely related degree. Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication and ability to work well with diverse audiences. Experience in applied field research. Ability to obtain a valid South Dakota driver's license within 30 days of hire and willingness to travel throughout South Dakota.

Record of extension and/or research publications.
SALARY:
Commensurate
with qualifications.
UNIVERSITY/COMMUNITY:
SDSU is a land grant institution and the state's largest institution of higher
education with an enrollment of approximately 12,800 students. The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Leadership has NCATE accredited
programs in early childhood education, secondary education, Family and Consumer Sciences Education and Agricultural Education. The
department also houses the Fishback Center for Early Childhood Education where there resides one toddler laboratory classroom, two preschool
classrooms, and one kindergarten room, which is a cooperative venture with the Brookings School District.
SDSU is located in Brookings, South Dakota, a community of approximately 22,100 near the east central border of South Dakota on Interstate 29. The city has an excellent K-12 education system, is accessible to major medical facilities, has an active cultural and social environment, and has numerous lakes and parks within driving distance. It is 50 miles north of Sioux Falls, a city of close to 150,000.
