Progress for the Porsche 918 Spyder is very well on track and will make it for its debut late next year without any delay as development for the car is progressing smoothly and it is now in its prototype stage. Porsche has developed a Race Track package especially for the 918 Spyder which will feature a gutted interior and an unpainted body shell. Race-Track prepared cars are also known to be 66lbs lighter than the standard model, whose standard weight is already reported at 3750lbs.
It has also been known that the Race Track-packaged 918 Spyder make up 20 percent of orders but it is unlikely that all 20 percent of these individuals will ever bring the car to the track. However, the performance upgrade is definitely welcomed and it should bring the new hybrid plug-in supercar to even greater heights.
All the 918 Spyders will be equipped with a V8 4.6-liter engine coupled to two electric motors. Together with the motors, the car should make about 770bhp which should propel the car from 0-62mph in just 3.0 seconds, as reported by Porsche. Top speed sits at 202mph. You would be stoked to know that even with so much power, fuel economy is impressive ? 78mpg. Even if your budget doesn?t quite stretch to such a costly purchase MSG Cars can look to offer funding on a cheaper Porsche model upto ?25k and with models such as the Boxster and Caymen now available for reduced prices on used examples a Non Status vehicle is well within ?reach.
